The Berlin duo Slope is one of the best-known acts in the renowned Sonar Kollektiv and, alongside Jazzanova and Âme, is one of the leading names on the label. Their music effortlessly combines nu jazz, soulful disco house, funky breaks, and dark Detroit techno, making them a fixture on the turntables of icons such as Ewan Pearson, LTJ Bukem, and Gilles Peterson. Since their formation in 1996, when Daniel Paul Hoffmann and Hans Schaaf aka DJ Honesty met at the alternative art center Tacheles, they have developed their own unique sound that combines high cultural standards with club functionality. With their first releases on Jazzanova's Mermaid label and later successes such as the EP Bass Check and the album M, Slope has made a name for itself internationally. Their remix of the Underground Resistance track “Your Time Is Up” and the 2005 album Komputa Groove continue to expand their global influence.
